Slow month? Here’s what's happening

Hey Reader,

Something I’ve told myself over and over again is that owning a business is hard—but it’s worth it.

Some months are incredible. Sales come in steadily, ideas flow, and everything clicks. Then the next month rolls around and suddenly, it feels like everything slows to a crawl. People are quieter. Engagement drops. Income dips. And it’s easy to start second guessing everything.

I’ve been through that enough times to know now—it’s just part of the rhythm.

This time of year especially, families are refocusing. Summer is winding down and school is starting back up. People are buying backpacks and figuring out new routines, and business just isn’t the first thing on their minds.

But rather than panic or try to force momentum, I’ve learned to take a step back and pay attention to what the season is teaching me.

Every slow month is a reminder that this journey has waves. There are moments when everything moves fast, and others when we’re invited to pause, breathe, and prepare. And if we’re wise, we’ll use the quieter times to do work that keeps us strong for the next busy stretch.

There are a few lessons I’ve picked up along the way.

First, business always has highs and lows depending on the season. That’s normal. Nothing is broken.

Second, your content and offers should reflect what people are going through. If they’re overwhelmed, help them simplify. If they’re distracted, help them focus. If they’re preparing, help them get ready.

And third, it’s okay to rest when your audience is resting. That pause doesn’t mean you’re falling behind—it just means you’re building with intention.

Because here’s what I do know. The fourth quarter is coming.

October through December is a window of opportunity unlike any other. People are spending, searching, and making decisions. And the best thing you can do right now is prepare for it. Whether you’re blogging, building an email list, showing up on social media, or all of the above—this is the time to get ready.

You don’t need to go full speed while everyone’s still adjusting to back-to-school life. But you can start planting the seeds. Set things in motion so that when the momentum comes back, your business is ready for it.

That’s what I’m doing. And I’ll keep showing up here to help you do the same.

If you ever want to bounce around ideas or get clear on your next step, just reply. I’d love to hear what you’re working on!

Hey Reader, It's clear to me that so many are still searching for practical ways to earn more money. And it has nothing to do with wanting to get rich overnight, but because the math of everyday life has simply gotten harder. Groceries, housing, and raising a family costs more. Many people are doing everything right and still feel like they are constantly trying to keep up. Over the past ten years I have spent a lot of time studying how ordinary people create extra income from home. Some...

Hands holding a stack of dollar bills

Hey Reader, I have spent the last week reading through your replies, and I just want to say thank you. The responses were thoughtful, honest, and incredibly encouraging. So many of you shared that you are still looking for ways to earn more, manage what you have better, and build something steadier for your families. It helped me see clearly that the mission I started years ago still matters. Instead of just chasing bigger numbers, you want stability, margin, options, and ultimately a plan...

Hey Reader, I wanted to follow up after my last email and share something more personal. In January, my husband’s mom went to heaven. Losing her shook our lives in ways we never could have prepared for. At the same time, we are so confident that she is with Jesus and no longer in pain that gratitude continues to rise up even in the middle of grief. This season stretched longer than I expected. When I stepped away from a big portion of my business in September, I had no idea how much time we...
